Brother Joe Chancey

On April 30, 1982, while riding down Swamp Road, the Lord Jesus Christ made himself real to Joe Chancey. He arrived at his home, went into his bedroom, knelt beside his bed and ask Jesus to save him. For seven years his wife Marie prayed for his salvation and her prayers had now been answered. God burdened Brother Joe's heart in 1985 to start a church on the swamp. He ran from God until 1994 and then finally surrendered to God's will. He asked the Lord to show him in a way that he knew it came from Him. From that point, everything began to fall into place. Swamp Road Baptist Church had now become a reality. For approximately a year, we met in a pavilion at "Obediah's Okefenok", a historical park owned by Mr. Billy Brantley. We purchased land, many people donated building materials, land clearing equipment, money and hard labor to build the church building we presently enjoy. Many souls have been saved and the Lord Jesus has richly blessed us because one man answered God's call. " To God be the Glory".
